Apprenticeship & Training
As members of IEC we support the education of apprentices and journeyman with education and skills for a lifelong career. Apprenticeship is a very structured system of job training. Although the work is physical it does not require a superman or superwoman. We prepare individuals for the occupation of electrician by combining on-the-job training with job related classroom instruction. Our students are full time paid employees with our member contractors. They typically work 7am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday, on the job and attend class 6pm-10pm one night per week for 39 weeks per year. Our program is four years long and the student must complete a minimum of 8000 working hours and 576 classroom hours in order to graduate.
Professional Electricians Program
The PEP program is designed for those electricians with five or more years of working experience but who have little or no classroom training in electrical theory and National Electrical Code. This program is designed to supplement field experience with formal classroom training. Documentation of five years working history is required at registration. The PEP is a three year program consisting of six (6) semesters. The PEP program is recognized by contractors across the country. A National IEC certificate is issued upon successful completion.
We offer our customers a work force that is competent and informative.
